Oh Deer

If any of you have ever traveled on the highway you realize how dangerous a deer can be. They are "everywhere" and at "any" moment can leap out in front of you. My brother on the way up prayed a prayer that God would protect us from any deer. On the way back sure enough there was a deer standing right on the highway, just standing and looking at us. It seemed confident and secure and didn't seem to fear us much at all. My dad blasted it's horn and finally it lept off to safety. Deer belong away from people where they can be safe and live long healthy lives. This reminded me of the scripture that says that God will protect us and He'll keep our hinds feet in high places. We can't always be secure or confident around others who might harm us. However, we can remember that God promises to protect us. He will lead us into safety even if it's not for a while. Bad things might happen to us but God will always provide a place of rest and safety when we need it. If we pray and open up to Him he will take pleasure in that and answer our prayers. God loves when we come to Him even when we are afraid and broken. He will heal us and give us hope and courage. Remember where you stand with God today. Keep confident in secure in His mercy, grace, and unconditional love.

2 Samuel 22:34 AMP
He makes my feet like the hinds' [firm and able]; He sets me secure and confident upon the heights.

Are You a Well Woman?

I'm sure you've heard the story of the woman at the well. A Samaritan woman comes to the well at noon day so she wont bump into a lot of people. Very few people came to the well at noon day because it was so hot. This woman was ashamed of who she was. She was ashamed of how she lived. She even said Jesus how can you talk to me I am a Samaritan? She didn't need to "confess" her sins to Jesus because He already knew them. However, she didn't deny them either. She respected Jesus and she listened to what He had to say. Why? Because she was broken. She was probably like most of us at the end of our rope having gone from one relationship to another feeling bruised broken and hopeless. Is there any man out there worthy of our love? WHY DO WE FEEL SO EMPTY?

Well... :P

Have you ever questioned if your pot is so broken that no matter how many times you get filled... spiritually... you still feel like you just leak out? Perhaps we need to let go of our broken pots. Did you notice in verse 28 it says the woman left her water jug beside the well and ran to tell the people of the Messiah? That is what we need to do. We need to let go of the things in our life we are trying to fill... we need to just focus on how AMAZING Jesus' love is! So what do you think girls? Are you ready to leave your brokenness at the alter? Focus on Jesus and the plans He has for your life? THEN you will be filled!

John 4

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman
Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John 2 (though Jesus himself didn’t baptize them—his disciples did). 3 So he left Judea and returned to Galilee.

4 He had to go through Samaria on the way. 5 Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. 7 Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” 8 He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.

9 The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans.b]">[b] She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

11 “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? 12 And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?”

13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

15 “Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.”

16 “Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her.

17 “I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied.

Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband—18 for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke the truth!”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. 20 So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim,c]">[c] where our ancestors worshiped?”

21 Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. 23 But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. 24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus told her, “I Am the Messiah!"

27 Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, “What do you want with her?” or “Why are you talking to her?” 28 The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, 29 “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” 30 So the people came streaming from the village to see him.

Bad Hair Day?

Today I got my hair cut and I was wondering why do women make so much of a fuss about what they look like. I wasn't entirely happy with the weather's effect on my new hair cut so I went to the store to buy some hair products. While I was their I went from buying hair products to glancing at lotions. They have something for everyone who is unhappy with the way they look... if they want to pay. Then I realized how great it feels to have a God who can put up with your bad hair days and your self esteem issues. He created you in His image and He said it was good. You are already approved by Him. So why do we still look in the mirror and judge our appearances? Maybe it's time we focus on inner beauty a bit more. I love to read my bible because it makes me not go crazy when stuff starts stressing me out. When we get real with God we feel awesome. Don't forget He can take our bad hair days and turn them into something for His glory also.

1 Peter 3:3-4 (New International Version)

3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

You Grow Girl

In a society that encourages tot's in tiaras and eleven year old beauty pageant contestants there is a very cloudy view on what it means to be grown up. I have a problem where I look in the mirror and I see a little girl. Ever have that problem? I felt if I don't look grown up then how will I ever act grown up? Have you ever had your parents say that the behavior that you are displaying is ridiculous and you should just grow up? In all my years of reading self help books (mostly all biblically based) I have never found a successful book that explains how to grow up. As a teacher I can tell you that everyone matures in different stages at different times. I believe God knows this also. He wont ask you to look grown up but He does ask us to act grown up. Think about it Jesus, took on His Father's work at what age? Growing up doesn't have a specific age to it. It's a matter of your heart. How will I maturely use the God given gifts to help society and glorify my Father? What actions will we take to grow up? Will we use words differently and treat people with more respect? Is there a specific thing that we need to release before we mature? It is necessary for our spiritual growth to remain in God's word. So let's stay in God's word and encourage one another to grow. It may be painful but I'm here to hold your hand and pray with you.

1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I made use of a child's language, I had a child's feelings and a child's thoughts: now that I am a man, I have put away the things of a child.

Go Away! I'm out of bandaids...

I was looking for a picture of a broken heart for this blog when I saw a bumper sticker that said "Go away I'm out of bandaids". Wouldn't it be great if we could tell people never to hurt us? However, we can't but what we can remember is that God heals us. He takes our broken hearts and turns them into something beautiful. The longer you hold onto unforgiveness the longer it's going to take to feel better, I'm learning this myself. Instead of dwelling on the people who hurt you, you could be helping people who have been hurt also. So what do you say? Will you give it a chance and let God heal your heart? I know He can because that's what God's word says. Let's do it together :) I will encourage you and you can encourage me!

Idol or Instrument?

A while ago I was sitting in a sermon when the pastor started talking about this man who was very wealthy. Unlike most stereotypical rich people this man was very kind and well mannered. When a pastor asked this man what made his attitude toward his wealth so different he said, "I was always taught that either something can be an idol or an instrument". Recently I tried fooling myself into thinking that I was using a computer game that I was addicted to as an instrument to witness to people. Yes I was witnessing to people but it had become an idol in my life and made me completely unhappy with myself and my walk with God. I realized this and now I'm happy and back on the right path with God in my life. Are there things in your life that you "think" you are using as instruments, yet they are really idols? Remember that we have to keep focused on God's purpose for our lives. Without HIM we are nothing and we would have nothing. Everything we have or any gift we possess should be used for His glory. I pray today that we will be released from anything that will take over our passion for God and the real life that He gave us.

1 Cor. 10:31
31So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Crosswalk

Ever been to a crosswalk? You have a certain amount of time where it is safe to "cross the street", but you are motivated you "need" to get to what is on the other side. Sometimes in life we come to crosswalks and we feel it is never safe to cross. That's where I was at... what does God want me to do, where does God want me to go? I'm afraid I'm terrified but all I can do is put one foot in front of the other and trust that
God will keep me safe.

2 Timothy 1:7 (Amplified Bible)
7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
