In a World of Darkness...

Psalm 139:11-12
11 I could ask the darkness to hide me
and the light around me to become night—
12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you.

Why do people surround themselves with darkness? Everywhere we go today we are surrounded with some form of darkness. Spiritual darkness anywhere from vampires to stores like Spencer or Hot Topic. They play innocent but if you put on your spiritual goggles for two seconds I bet you would see those places are swarming with demons. Why? Because they do not welcome in the light. The light has never really been welcome in this world. From the moment Jesus came to earth people began immediately to try to shut out the "Light". Nevertheless, the light does overcome the darkness. Jesus has already overcame the world when He rose from the dead. This world lays in darkness today... but someday the Lord will return with all glory and majesty and the light will shine again.
Here's a task for you. Take a flashlight and go into a pitch black room... does the flashlight make a difference? No matter how small our light is within us... it is still stronger than the darkness. Something to keep in your mind when you feel surrounded by darkness.
So why do Christians allow darkness to come into their lives? I don't know, I've always wondered myself. If Christ lives in us and He does not associate with darkness then why are we allowing our children to associate with darkness when we want Christ to live in them? Just stay in the light and realize that darkness can surround you but it can not define you.

1 John 1:5
5 This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
